Thanks Mark….
I just thought yesterday about him and thought to get a book…this is just as good.
His words go in deep… straight to the heart…
peace to you ,Soul
if we made a wall with the names of the vietnamese dead it would engulf the city. It was the war in vietnam that made me a soldier of peace. Thich Hnat Hahn has become my point guard.
If you ever have a chance to see him give a dharma talk, you should considering going. He is wonderful, and the monks and nuns with him are also really special. There's this lightness of being they all have. That said last time I saw him speak he was very, very serious about the environmental state of the world.
The monks and nuns sing these sweet songs before he begins talking. And there's always meditation integrated into the talk as well.
The first time I ever saw him was in Lincoln Center. At one point this baby started wailing, you could feel folks getting uncomfortable, annoyed even! He just stopped speaking and just simply listened to the baby cry with this sweet smile on his face. Suddenly, there was this collective shift in the space as though everyone realized the miracle of this little baby… And the baby quieted down.

“The heart has the power to shine - and illuminate.”
I so agree. Nice message to share, Mark.
